LEGENDS OF ACAPPELLA, Original 60's Recordings from the 45s

OK, this compilation is a Sometime Somewhere exclusive. It's a 16 track album taken from our vinyl collection. 16 tracks originally released on the mid 60's on labels like Catamount, Relic, Old Timer and so... and to our knowledge never released on LP or CD format.

The mid 60's lived a boom on acappella, each east coast city seemed to have a group on every street corner. Anyway it was some kind of underground thing... so record were pressed on limited quantities and the used vinyl was not of the greatest quality... so althoug all the 45's used for this compilation were on Mint shape, don't expect crystal clear audio quality!. I could have used some filters to reduce noise and so... but I prefered not to do so... yes I could take some noise, but also some of the voices... so sit and listen to these tracks the way they were originally released.

Includes 13 new ACAPPELLA tunes (songs composed by Donna but never recorded or songs that he used to sang back then) + 7 rare original recordings by Vic Donna with his groups the Parakeets, Fi Tones... all in all great stuff.

Acappella Street Corner Vocal Groups

Promotional video of the book "Acappella Street Corner Vocal Groups" A brief History And Discography of 1960's Singing Groups.

Quiet Storm

We want to introduce you one of the best acappella groups of the moment... QUIET STORM !!!! Simply INCREDIBLE!!!!
Quiet Storm is a Philadelphia based group that began in the spring of 2007. Started by Kamau “Smitty” Akiba who has sang and recorded with The Informers on J-Rude and Blackjack labels in the sixties and again from 2005 to 2006. Initially, the group started rehearsing in members homes, on porches, subways, and shopping malls, until settling down at Columbia Rehearsal Studios. Over the first six to nine months, the membership fluctuated with personnel changes for a variety of reasons. However, in the winter of 2007 the perfect mix of members emerged! It is now a perfect blend of brothers who equally share the dedication, belief, spirit, drive and cooperation fundamental to making a group as “ONE”.
I ONLY HAVE EYES FOR YOU

Quiet Storm was performing several acappella tunes live on the "Street Corner Serenade" radio show , conduced by Dennis B The Doo Wop Cop. The show can be heard every Friday night from 9p-11p on Cruisin' 92.1 FM WVLT in Vineland, NJ and streaming live at www.WVLT.com
